Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20, 2019 in Ankara

On the occasion of Prof. Tezer-Sezgin’s 67th birthday and retirement, this workshop honors the outstanding achievements and valuable service to numerical analysis and computational fluid dynamics which Prof. Tezer-Sezgin has made over a career at the Department of Mathematics spanning more than 40 years.

The workshop features scientific contributions mainly by the former Ph.D. students of Prof. Tezer-Sezgin in the area of numerical analysis with applications specifically in computational fluid dynamics.

The workshop will be on April 19-20, 2019 at the Department of Mathematics, METU in Cahit Arf Lecture Hall. All interested are welcome to attend.

About Prof. Tezer-Sezgin

M. Tezer-Sezgin received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Mathematics from the Middle East Technical University, Turkey. She received her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Applied Mathematics from the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Calgary, Canada, in the years 1978 and 1983, respectively.

She has been a faculty member of the Department of Mathematics at METU since 1983 and also an affiliated member in the Institute of Applied Mathematics, METU. Her research interests include numerical analysis, numerical solutions of ODEs and PDEs applied to fluid dynamic and magnetohydrodynamic flow problems.

She has thought over 30 years numerical analysis and applied mathematics courses offered for undergraduate and graduate students at the Mathematics Department of Middle East Technical University. Prof. Tezer-Sezgin has about 140 scientific papers published in specialized international journals and the international conference proceedings. In recognition of her research work, Dr. Tezer-Sezgin was awarded the “Mustafa Parlar Foundation 1990 Research Prize” and the “Mustafa Parlar Foundation 2014 Science Prize” in Natural Sciences.
